New Time to Shine Funding in Leeds

New Time to Shine Funding in Leeds

Speak With IT were awarded a Time to Shine grant in August via Leeds Community Foundation. The grant will go towards the development of the Aphasia Choir in Leeds and the Aphasia Cafe which meets monthly monthly at the GATE Community Resource Centre in Belle Isle. There is also additional money to spend on equipment and volunteer training.

The awarding of the grant will allow the charity to continue to develop the support provided for people with aphasia in Leeds and enable Speak With IT to test new approaches, in particular the choir which will run from St John and St Barnabas Church in Belle Isle. If anyone is interested in joining the cafe or choir please contact the Speak With IT team on 01924 888608 or complete an enquiry form on the website.

James Major, Charity Manager said: ‘The choir has been running informally for a few months now but this funding will really take it to the next level. For a lot of the people we support their speaking has been affected but they still have the ability to sing. I am excited to see how the group develops and look forward to their first performance!’
