Barnsley Aphasia Technology Club ‘Highly Commended’

Barnsley Aphasia Technology Club ‘Highly Commended’

The Barnsley Aphasia Technology Club project has been ‘Highly Commended’ in the Partnerships category at the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SWYFT) Excellence Awards 2019.

The partnership working excellence award was for projects which demonstrated the impact of working successfully with others and was a partnership between Speak With IT and the Barnsley Speech and Language Therapy team. It was led by Emilie Verroken, Clinical Lead Speech & Language Therapist at SWYFT who attended the awards ceremony alongside James Major, Charity Manager, Sarah Guifo Guifo, Volunteer and Rachel Sykes, Trustee.

Although we did not win the award which was won by a very worthy winner in the Trust wide perinatal mental health team, we all agreed that we were winners just for being there! A big thank you should go to the volunteers who supported the project – Sarah, Neil, Louisa and Anne without whom the project would have never got off the ground and a special thank you must go to National Lottery Awards for All who funded a large part of the project.
