A year in Lockdown! Having made the switch to video calls during the pandemic, it’s great to see how many people SWIT has supported and the number of visits our wonderful volunteers have done.
Video calls has meant we can provide more frequent support for people with aphasia. It has meant that the barrier to home based support provided by geography no longer applies. We now have volunteers based in India and Japan providing support for people with aphasia in Yorkshire!
However, while the charity recognises the many positives of video call support, we do know that it is not a good fit for everyone and we are very keen to return to providing home visits for people with aphasia. We plan to do so from June 21st 2021 and will be recruiting for volunteers from May 1st.
