About Corporate Giving

Are you interested in making a contribution to Speak With IT via your organisation or an organisation you work for? There are a variety of ways to make this happen!

Giving something, whether it be time or funds to a charity, can be a great way to ensure you’re fulfilling your Corporate Social Responsibility and making a positive social impact. Speak With IT feedback to all their corporate partners on how their contributions are improving the lives of those isolated by aphasia by re-engaging them in society and everyday life.

An organisation may choose to contribute by linking up with Speak With IT to launch an internal volunteer scheme, whereby some staff members are granted time away from work each month (approximately two hours) to support someone with aphasia on a 1-2-1 basis. Such support can and does lead staff towards a better understanding of people’s differing communication needs, how to communicate through methods alternative to speech and how to be a better conversation partner through empathy and patience. If you would be interested in more details regarding the set-up and required commitment of such a scheme, please contact Speak With IT’s volunteer and fundraising coordinator, Hattie.

Methods of Making a Positive Contribution

1. Donating Funds

Another method of making a positive contribution to Speak With IT might be to consider donating funds to Speak With IT. This may be as simple and direct as a one-time donation to Speak With IT for an event or sponsored activity your staff might have completed for us. However, we would also encourage you to consider the option of making us your Charity of the Year, so that we can work collaboratively to present a catalogue of fundraising events and voluntary opportunities to staff across the year. During the time that we are partnered, Speak With IT will liaise with your organisation to ensure that expectations are being met at both ends and we will endeavour to present positive news stories and case studies to your organisation, reflecting the impact your contributions make.

2. Sponsoring

Another option you might consider is sponsoring Speak With IT for a specific project we’re running at any one time. To give you a taster of what this might look like, our current projects include developing a speech and language therapist network, so that every client with aphasia has input from a medical professional on the most vital needs for their care. We’re also launching an Aphasia Choir, a fun way to bring people out of their homes, into the community and amongst their peers. This, we hope, will decrease social isolation and encourage automatic speech production through the positive effects of singing therapy – a very worthy project, I’m sure you can agree!

If any of the above sounds like something you may wish to pursue, or you would simply like some further information, please contact our volunteer and fundraising coordinator, Hattie Foreman, available at hforeman@speakwithit.org or 01924 888608.
