Position: Speech & Language Therapist – Leeds Aphasia Cafe
Hours: Funded for 4 hours per month

Speak With IT are looking to recruit a Speech & Language Therapist (SLT) to run the Leeds aphasia cafe. The Leeds aphasia café is funded for 1 year by a Harnessing the Power of Communities grant until July 31st 2022. The SLT taking over the group would be expected to take over the running of the face to face group sessions which meet on the third Tuesday of every month at Tenants Hall Enterprise Centre in Middleton, South Leeds. The group also meets on zoom once a month however the SLT would not be expected to take over the running of this group.

This is an exciting opportunity for an SLT to take over the running of an established group who have been running for 4 years. The group is attended by people with aphasia and their carers. The SLT who runs these groups will be supported in their role by James, Chief Executive Officer and volunteers. They will also be supported by Lynne, Charity Fundraiser.

This role is initially funded until July 31st 2022, however this will be reviewed in May 2022. The charity is confident this role will continue to be funded thereafter through a mixture of grant funding and general fundraising activities.

The Charity:

Speak With IT is a Yorkshire based charity that helps people with aphasia to improve their ability to communicate using technology and supported conversation. Aphasia can follow a stroke or brain injury and the condition not only affects a person’s ability to speak and/or comprehend, it can also have a devastating impact on other aspects of their life. The charity provides one to one support for people with aphasia using therapy apps and supported conversation.
